ABSTRACT. Spin chains are models of realistic quantum devices. They can be realized in optical lattices and appear in un-isotropic crystalline structures in solid state. History of quantum entanglement and spin chains will be explained. The entanglement measures the level of quantum fluctuations. Different spin chains will be reviewed. The chains with highest level of fluctuations will be singled out.

Short BIO. Vladimir Korepin is a theoretical and mathematical physicist. He did his undergraduate in Leningrad State University on Mathematical Physics, 1974. In 1977, he got his PhD from Steklov Mathematical Institute in Leningrad (Sankt Petersburg). After completing his Ph. D., he worked as Postdoctoral researcher at the Steklov Mathematical Institute in 1978-1984 and then as professor 1985-1989. Vladimir is professor [with tenure] in C. N. Yang Institute for Theoretical Physics [Stony Brook University] December 8 of 1989 till current date. Prof. Korepin developed graduate course on quantum computation and also organized multiple programs and workshops on quantum information in Simons Center for Geometry and Physics in Stony Brook and conferences in International Institute for Physics in Natal, Brazil.
